Sand Blasting Cabinet & Its types
Sand blasting cabinet
is a closed cabinet like structure in the sand blasting machine. It is used to
blast the part and can also help in re-cycling the abrasive and dust particles.
Due to its additional features of re-cycling of abrasive and dust particles cabinet
type sand blasting machines are mainly manufactured for the cleaning of
machines in large industries. Sand blasting cabinet machines are basically used
for cleaning purpose of small sized equipment. Also they can be beneficial for
improving the surface of components by removing rough edges, scratches and
contaminant particles out of them.
The main components of
sand blasting cabinet are:
- Cabinet
- Abrasive blasting system
- Abrasive re-cycling system
- Dust collector
Sand blasting is
operated by the operator from the outside of the cabinet. The operator needs to
keep his arms inside the gloves which are attached to holes on placed on the
cabinet. Through a vision glass, the part is viewed and the on/off operation of
machine is carried out with the help of footswitch.
There are three main
principles of sand blasting cabinet.
·
Pressure sand blasting cabinet: The
abrasives are pressurized inside the vessel at the same pressure as that of
hose which is attached to the bottom of the vessel. Sandblast nozzle is used to
spray out the abrasive media with the help of compressed air.
·
Suction sand blasting cabinet: The
vacuum is created in the Y gun through which the abrasive is sprayed out by the
negative pressure at the component.
·
Wet sand blast cabinet: Both water and
abrasives are sprayed out by compressed air. It is mostly used in removing oil
and grease.
According to the shape
and size sand blasting cabinet are of two types.
·
Small sand blasting cabinet: In this type blasting of small components
such as automobile component, broken chargers, turbo chargers, and
turbochargers is done.
·
Large sand blasting cabinet: In this
type blasting of large components such as casting, rod, granite, mould is done.

Great work!!!
